Cities XL é um título similar ao aclamado SimCity que revive o gênero de simuladores urbanos. Desenvolvido pela Monte Cristo, responsável também por City Life, o título fornece uma série de possibilidades ao jogador, incluindo a chance de compartilhar sua cidade com o mundo todo.

Através de um globo, o jogador visualiza centenas de cidades construídas por outros jogadores. Certos jogadores serão especializados em determinados ramos, como a construção de departamentos de lixo e distribuição de eletricidade, o que torna a troca de favores essencial para manter a cidade em harmonia.

Além disso, jogadores podem criar seus próprios avatares e se encontrar em determinados locais, assim como em MMORPGs. A exploração das cidades de seus companheiros também poderá ser feita através dos avatares e observar prédios e pontos turísticos é tão simples como na vida real.

A Monte Cristo também planejou jogos no estilo Tycoon, que serve como adicional a Cities XL. Os gráficos apresentam-se de forma extremamente bela, e é possível visualizar até mesmo os atletas dentro de um campo de futebol. Disponível somente para PC, o Cities XL revive de forma gloriosa um gênero aclamado por muitos jogadores.

O que Mudou
Cities XL sets a new benchmark in the city-builder game category by fusing, for the first time, the city builder genre with an MMO. Offline, it offers all the benefits of the leading city builders, through the creation and development of a photorealistic city in which managing your resources and population categories, will be essential to success. Online, it proposes an entirely new layer to the experience in allowing the players to trade resources with others, participate to the construction of Mega structures, or visit the entire planet via your avatar.
